Shipping Insurance & Claims

Transit insurance options, coverage details, and claim procedures for pet shipments

Why Shipping Insurance?

Insurance Options

Standard Coverage (Included in Shipping Fee)

Premium Insurance (Optional Add-On)

What Premium Insurance Covers

Scenario Coverage
Pet becomes ill during transport Emergency vet care reimbursement
Weather delays shipment (2+ days) Extended care costs covered
Mechanical failure of transport Backup transport or reimbursement
Pet is lost or misrouted Full insurance payout
Handler injury/emergency Emergency replacement transport

What Insurance Does NOT Cover

How to Add Insurance

  1. Request shipping quote from Pet Center
  2. Ask about premium insurance options
  3. Choose coverage level (Standard or Premium)
  4. Insurance fee added to shipping invoice
  5. Insurance is effective from pickup through delivery

Filing a Claim

Step 1: Document the Issue — Photograph pet condition, get vet report, save all receipts, document dates and times.

Step 2: Contact Pet Center — Email support@petcenterco.com with order number and incident details within 48 hours of issue.

Step 3: Submit Claim Package — Provide vet diagnosis, receipts, photos, and description of what occurred.

Step 4: Investigation — Pet Center and insurance provider review claim (3-5 business days).

Step 5: Decision & Payment — Receive decision and payment within 7-10 business days if approved.

Claim Deadline

IMPORTANT: Claims must be filed within 14 days of pet delivery. Claims filed after day 14 may not be honored.

Emergency During Transit

If your pet has an emergency during transport:

  1. Handler will immediately contact the nearest emergency vet
  2. You will be notified immediately by handler
  3. Vet will treat pet; handler pays upfront if necessary
  4. Insurance covers documented emergency vet costs
  5. Pet Center and insurance are contacted for reimbursement

Weather Delays & Coverage

Delays of 24-48 hours are common with ground transport. Premium insurance provides:

Health Guarantee vs Insurance

Insurance covers: Emergency situations during transit (vet care, accidents, delays)

Health Guarantee covers: Pre-existing conditions found after delivery

Both can apply to provide comprehensive protection. See Health Guarantee for details.
